January 2010 Car of the Month

1989 RS owned by Doug Bates (Gooderham, Ontario)

Doug bought this 89 Dark Red RS in 1999. It had 84,000 kms on the odometer. Although it was never winter driven, he said that it was not very well looked after. Doug is watching carefully as his car is being photographed.

This Dark Red 89 RS is a 5 litre T.B.I. automatic w/overdrive equipped with power windows, locks and trunk.

In 2003, Doug and his Camaro had a collision with a deer which required this car to spend some time in the shop. Thankfully all of the original panels were saved.

This is a great example of a really nice and clean 3rd Gen. And, what makes this car even more special is how Doug rolled up his sleeves and "brought this car back". I saw the car in the "before" state and I can tell you that the transition to its "after/present" state is remarkable. Congratuations Doug. Doug has brought his 89 to every Ontario Camaro Nationals since 1999 and taken his fair share of awards. No question about that!
